14 arrested in Glenwood neighborhood drug sting

"Officers from the Greensboro Police Department, UNCG Police Department, and NC Alcohol Law Enforcement, concluded a nine-month, multi-agency investigation into the sale of drugs in the Glenwood neighborhood today, which resulted in the arrest of 14 individuals.
The investigation began in August 2013 when residents of the Glenwood neighborhood and UNCG students in Spartan Village Apartments notified GPD and UNCG PD of suspected open-air drug sales near the intersection of Gregory and Haywood Streets.
Through undercover operations and surveillance, officers from the agencies involved determined that individuals were using the premises of the CT Mart at 904 Gregory Street, Steelman Park, and the surrounding community for illegal activities, including the sale of illegal drugs.
The two departments previously had committed to working together to address quality of life issues that affected both the campus and surrounding communities.
“We have a strong partnership with the Greensboro Police Department that benefits both UNCG students and Greensboro residents. Our departments bring complementary strengths toward our shared goal of providing a safe place to live for members of our community,” said UNCG Police Chief Jamie Herring.
Beginning at 6:26 a.m., officers from GPD, UNCG PD, and North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement served search warrants at the following addresses:  1021 Gregory Street, 915 Barringer Street, 810 Richardson Street, 802 Oak Street, and 804 Oak Street.
Officers seized large quantities of marijuana and MDMA in addition to one firearm and approximately $3100 in cash.  Most of the items seized came from the 802 Oak Street location.
“The results of this investigation speak to the power of police and citizen partnerships,” said Greensboro Police Chief Ken Miller. “Cooperation from community members and excellent support from multiple law enforcement agencies have helped improve the quality of life for the residents of this area.”
Officials from Thomasville PD, Elon PD, Gibsonville PD, NC Probation and Parole and the Department of Homeland Security-Immigration and Customs Enforcement also assisted with the investigation.
