"Detectives from the Greensboro Police Department and an official from the Norfolk Southern Railway Police Department are currently investigating the death of man hit by a train on the 4700 block of Hilltop Road.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:14 this morning as a northbound Norfolk Southern freight train was approaching the intersection in the vicinity of 4727 Hilltop Road near the D.H. Griffith Corporation.
A witness related that the adult male circumvented the drop arm bar at the railroad crossing and stepped on to the tracks as the train approached. The man has not yet been positively identified. No other persons were involved or injured in this incident.
Hilltop Road is closed in both directions from Fairfax Road to Stanley Road while the investigation continues.
