Forsyth
Tech is introducing a two-year degree in
Motorcycle Mechanics this fall.

"(Winston-Salem,
NC) – Forsyth Tech is responding to the
needs of the local business community while providing new options to students
for the 2015-2016 academic year with the introduction of new programs, industry
credentials, and online courses.
Among the new offerings is the
Associate in Engineering program (AE). Engineering employers often look for
specific skills over standard degrees, and this program will provide students
with the training needed to compete in the high-demand environment of today’s engineering
workforce.
Engineering Pathways, a joint project
of the North Carolina Community College System and the University of North
Carolina, has developed an articulation agreement that allows community college
students with an AE degree to transfer seamlessly to a four-year engineering
program within the UNC system. The AE program is specifically designed to meet
prerequisite requirements and prevent the need for students to take additional
or duplicative courses upon transferring. Universities partnering with
community colleges through this program include East Carolina University,
University of North Carolina Charlotte, and North Carolina State University.
Another new in-demand program that will
be making its debut this fall is Motorcycle Mechanics. Students entering this
program will earn an AAS degree.
The college will also introduce AAS
degrees in Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Technology as well as
Welding Technology. Currently, diplomas and certificates are available in these
programs.
New industry certifications are being
introduced into the Entrepreneurship, Healthcare Business Informatics and Nonprofit
Leadership and Management programs to help employees in these fields.
To help students better balance work
and personal life demands while continuing their education and enhancing their
workforce credentials, Forsyth Tech is expanding its online offerings. This
fall, the two-year AAS degree in Healthcare Management Technology will be
available entirely online. By popular request, the two-semester certificate in
Nonprofit Leadership and Management will also be available online."
